The WWF UK is urging people to make a trip to the cinema on 20th March and support the release of the eagerly awaiting ‘The Age of Stupid’. The conservation group hope the film will inspire people to get involved in campaigning to put pressure on world leaders in the lead-up to the Copenhagen summit in December.
The film, made by Franny Armstrong and John Battsek, stars Oscar-nominated Pete Postlethwaite living in a tarnished society 50 years in the future. Whilst he contemplates the downfall of the world he watches ‘archive’ footage from 2008 and wonders…
‘why didn’t everyone stop climate change while they had the chance?’
WWF’s Head of Campaigns, Colin Butfield, said –
The Age of Stupid comes at a crucial time for WWF, coinciding with the build-up to Earth Hour, our global campaign calling for climate action. The film vividly portrays what the world will look like if we don’t take action now to tackle climate change.
The film premieres on Sunday 15th March with UK wide cinema release on the weekend of 20-22 March 2009.
