The NSPCC charity has recently received £30 million from the government to help ChildLine answer many more children’s cries for help. So that whether they call, email, text or contact us online, we’ll be here for them. What happens to a child who plucked up the courage to call for help, but didn’t get through?
In 2006/7, the NSPCC provided counselling to over 600,000 children.
By 2011 the NSPCC plan to provide counselling support for 1.2 million calls plus 380,000 online and SMS contacts. To help more children the NSPCC also plan to expand their UK services and recruit an extra 1,700 volunteers who will be able to answer over 1 million extra calls each year.
With the Government providing £30 million, the NSPCC need to raise a further £50 million to reach their goals. Once attained, ChildLine will be able to pick up the phone to almost 80% of all calls received, plus the money will allow us to talk to vulnerable children in more ways by expanding the email and text counselling service.
With your generosity you’ll be able to make a real difference to the life of a child, and work towards saving them from their abusers, attackers and bullies.

You can also help raise funds with the NSPCC Letter from Santa, where you can purchase a personalised letter from Santa himself by making a donation of £5 or more. This will not only bring joy to children you know, but you’ll also be helping the NSPCC bring an end to cruelty to children.
