Rocking Awareness on Global Warming.

Plans have been announced by prominent environmental activists such as former US vice-president Al Gore for a worldwide rock concert this July called ‘Live Earth’. The aim of the concert is to bring the issues of each individuals personal carbon emissions to the forefront of people’s minds with a view to mobilising action to help stop global warming. Confirmed acts so far include Bon Jovi, The Black Eyed Peas, Sheryl Crow, Kelly Clarkson and The Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

The concert plans have been announced following the recent meeting of environmental scientists in San Fansisco which concluded that the polar ice caps are actually melting at a much faster rate than at any time in the past 5000 years. In an echo to Live Aid the organisers have planned simultaneous concerts on July 7th in London, Sydney, Shanghai and Johannesburg. Additional cities will also host events in the US, Brazil and Japan but these have not yet been confirmed.

The organisers, also behind a new campaign called SOS (Save Our Selves) are hoping to get their message across to a global audience of over 2 billion people through combined media coverage online, television and radio as well as concert attendances. D4C will bring your more details of the event and how you can support it over the coming months.
