Cancer Research UK has helped develop a new prostate cancer treatment that has shown very encouraging potential in it’s latest clinical trial. The drug, Abiratone, is now in a ‘Phase III’ trial and has helped men who have advanced prostate cancer but the brakes on survive an extra 4 months on average.
With aggressive prostate cancer claiming up to 10,000 lives in the UK alone each year, these pleasing results will offer thousands of families hope, where there once was none. Though the drug is not yet available to patients, the manufacturers are currently applying for a licence to start full scale production, so hopefully it should be available in the very near future.
