Cancer Research are promoting their Cancer Research UK London Winter Run which is a 10k challenge through the centre of the capital. The route passes some of London’s world famous landmarks. The course also includes some larger than life fancy dress characters, and live music performances, making this a fantastic experience for running beginners to seasoned pros.
Over £4million raised
The run has been held annually since 2015 and has proved to be very popular. There was even a summer version held in 2021. Over 100,000 people have taken part since 2015 and over £4 million have been raised for cancer research.
Popular event
Many runners return annually for the event to collect the latest edition of the coveted finishers medal. February 2021 saw a change to the usual event given the real event couldn’t be held due to the pandemic. Instead the run went online, with over 10,000 people taking part and raising over £800,000 for Cancer Research UK.
The upcoming 2022 event will take place on Sunday 13th February. Many of the participants favourite aspects are returning such as the music, and dressed up characters, and there will be some new fun as well. For the first time ever runners will be able to earn virtual and physical rewards throughout their training by using the events website.
Iconic Route
The actual route for the February event is still to be announced but it will follow a similar course to years gone by. The epic route will pass some of the most famous landmarks London has to offer, as you head on a whistle-stop 10k tour of one of the greatest and most historic locations in the world.
Starting near Trafalgar Square previous routes have headed west, through Covent Garden and out to the City of London. From there the course usually doubles back past St Pauls and heads east to end near Westminster Bridge.
