British Red Cross charity officials were absolutely delighted when a bidding war broke out between two previous Big Brother participants for a piece of the show’s memorabilia, and helped raise an amazing £5,500 for the charity!
Channel 4 very kindly donated a number of items from the old Big Brother house to be auctioned for the British Red Cross Disaster Fund. This gave fans of the show a chance to bid on parts of Big Brother history, though nobody expected a bidding war to break out between previous contestants ‘Nasty’ Nick Bateman and Mario Mugan. They both went bidding crazy of the spooky fortune teller Bob Righter, with the final price reaching a whopping £4,700!
Mario, said –
I am thrilled to have got my hands on Bob Righter, especially as I beat Nick Bateman in a bidding battle at the very last minute. As it got towards the end of the auction the price was just getting higher and higher – I couldn’t quite believe it. But no-one was going to out-bid me! Bob Righter brings back loads of great memories of my time in the house, as I was standing next to him when he first came to life. I am so pleased that as well as buying an iconic piece of Big Brother history, all the money is going to the British Red Cross to support people affected by disasters around the world.
