Not long now folks till Oxjam 2012 kicks off around the country, and you can get involved too! Oxjam is a month long music festival throughout the whole of October which features loads of artists coming together to help raise funds for the Oxfam charity.
There will be gigs dotted around the country for the whole month, with a few famous faces taking part to help the cause, including –
- Hot Chip
- Graham Coxon
- Lucy Rose
- and many more
You too could organise a music event within your local community or school, and help raise money to fight poverty around the world. It’s doesn’t have to be a lavish affair, just put on a show and sell some ticket to take part in one of the UK’s biggest celebrations of music and charity.
Jamie from the Klaxons said –
The only thing more exciting than putting on your own event to help fight poverty is knowing that you’re part of a movement of thousands of gigs, club nights and events right across the country.
You don’t have to be Simon Cowell to put on a musical showcase (not that ever does!), So why not get involved and raise some funds to help Oxfam’s life saving work across the globe. Oxjam was first started in 2006, and has since raised an amazing £1.75 million in total. That’s enough to buy –
- 15,000 emergency shelters
- 70,000 goats
- 1050 classrooms
so as you can see, it really is an amazing charity initiative that saves lives and develops projects that provide lasting change. If you would like to take part, simply click on the link below register your event and they’ll send you everything you need to start planning your big night. Get involved folks, it looks like a lot of fun!
