Save the Children is pleased to announce a brand new partnership with Arsenal Football Club to create a new education project in China. The Premiership giants will make a donation of £300,000 in conjunction with their pre-season tour of the Far East in July, which will help improve educational standards for children aged between 6 and 15 in some of Beijing’s most disadvantaged areas.
The Arsenal Foundation will feed the funds over the next three years, which will help to pay and train 200 teachers and 20 head teachers in tandem with Save the Children. This will allow them to administer fresh and exciting education for students in China’s curriculum. This in turn will help to stop children from dropping out of school and escape poverty.
Arsenal Chief Executive Officer, Ivan Gazidis, said –
We are incredibly excited to be launching this new project which carries on our tradition of giving back to our community. Our partnership with Save the Children will help us reach even more young people globally and give them a chance to realise their potential – a philosophy we are committed to both on and off the pitch at Arsenal. Over the past 12 months players, supporters and staff have shown outstanding dedication and generosity towards our partnership with Save the Children and it’s fantastic that we can channel this commitment to our projects both in the UK and overseas that will have such a positive impact on so many lives.
The Arsenal CEO went on to visits one of Save the Children’s Early Childhood Care and Development Centres (ECCD) in Beijing, to meet some of the teachers and children to see how the changes will effect the local neighbourhood thanks to the project. It’s great to see the big football clubs giving something back to poorer communities, as it would be easier to turn a blind eye to problems that are so far away. Massive respect to Arsenal FC for this amazing initiative with Save the Children…
