The WWF charity is understandably angry at Republican Vice President Sarah Palin’s plans to sue over the US governments decision to place Polar Bears on the Endangered Species List.
With the current US financial crisis dominating the US presidential campaign, it seems Palin’s extraordinary stance to further oil and gas exploration in Alaska may become a huge bone of contention with American voters.
This is not Palin’s first brush with a conservation group. She also supported the 2007 Alaskan Department of Fish and Game policy to shoot wolves from helicopters in order to increase the Alaskan moose population, which is then in turn hunted. Palin’s office also offered a bounty of $150 per wolf, causing wildlife activists to sue the state, with the state judge declared the bounty illegal.
The court case begins in January, and hopefully Palin’s blinkered money-making plans will be overthrown through common sense.
